1998 Giro d'Italia

The 1998 Giro d'Italia was held May 16 through June 7, 1998. The 61st edition covered 3,868 km (2,403 miles) over 22 stages.

Italian Marco Pantani won the overall and mountains classification to wear the maglia rosa and maglia verde, respectively. Mariano Piccoli captured the Maglia ciclamino as the points classification winner. Pantani would go onto win the 1998 Tour de France as well.
