[edit] Musical career
Alan Cassidy began playing with various underground bands from the age of twelve. Cassidy's initial music experience came playing with blues band King Bees who asked him to play after watching his performance with another band at Fat Sams in Dundee. This led to stints with various Scottish artists DSS, Lita Tiare, H.E.N.C.E, Johnny’s Gone East and punk band Idolize.
Although Cassidy was to young to be allowed to drink alcohol in the venues and bars he would perform in, his live wire performance and unique pre-show routine of psyching himself up excited crowds while sometimes scaring band mates. As word of mouth spread Cassidy found himself in demand and as a result ended up playing with legendary American songwriter and musician J. J. Cale.
After playing in different bands from a young age Cassidy took this experience and started to go his own way. On having spent time developing his trade and writing style Cassidy began to play live where he would showcase his own songs.
Cassidy then put together The Rottenrow Band which often records and tours alongside him. The group is made up of musicians Cassidy played with and has known through the years of playing in different bands around Scotland.
Alan Cassidy was the supporting artist for Scottish band Simple Minds on their 2006 tour playing venues such as London Astoria, Belfast Waterfront Hall and Carling Academy Glasgow.
In February 2007 Alan Cassidy played the Borderline at Club Fandango. [1]
