BBC Blast

BBC Blast was created in 2002 to support 13 to 19 year olds to help them develop their skills in art, dance, film, music, writing and games. There is a website, television series and nationwide tour of the UK.

The BBC Blast website is divided into a number of sections offering advice and help in art, dance, film, music, writing, games and fashion. Blast members can upload their art, dance moves, fashion designs, films and music. They can rate or comment on creative work made by other young people in the art showcase, film showcase, music showcase, dance showcase and fashion showcase.

The site includes competitions, interviews, tips and tools, masterclasses and video downloads with a variety of people like Malorie Blackman, Matthew Williamson, Merlin Crossingham from Aardman and YouTube celeb Katers17.

Every year Blast on Tour visits a number of cities across the UK. There are a number of free creative workshops and events that vary from destination to destination. The Blast on Tour section of the website provides the workshop schedules for the locations and also showcases the creative work made including music videos, animations, eco-fashion, dance, poetry and radio reports.

Although the tour has been running for more than two years the Blast website has only indexed 2007 and 2008. This is due to the Blast redesign that launched in May 2007 where a new section for the tour was created.
