BBC Radio Surrey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BBC Radio Surrey was a BBC Local Radio station covering the county of Surrey in England which broadcast from 1991 to 1994.[1] The station officially commenced broadcasting at 6.00am on 14 November 1991, however, the station initially went on-air in order to cover a cricket match between Surrey and Hampshire on 6th September 1991, this was basically the feed from BBC Radio Solent.

[edit] History

After little promotion and because many of the stations programmes came from either BBC Radio Sussex or the BBC South & East Network the station was slowly wound down. The BBC announced plans to merge it with BBC Radio Sussex. This became what is now BBC Southern Counties Radio.
