"Reverend" Bob Levy (born August 12, 1962) is a stand-up comedian and radio personality who participates in and helps produce Howard Stern's roasts. He attended high school in Staten Island, NY. Levy is a co-host of Miserable Men on Sirius Satellite Radio's Howard 101 with Shuli and Jim Florentine. Levy is a regular poster on SternFanNetwork and a regular on the Howard Stern Show as well as the Kidd Chris show. Levy is often ridiculed for mispronouncing names of fellow comedians such as Lisa Lampanelli's and Greg Giraldo's. During the Gary Dell'Abate roast, it was stated the Levy missed his own son's birthday party. Levy is also known for his attempts at song parodies about the Stern show.
He appears in the The Killers of Comedy Tour (a.k.a. "The Hack Pack") with fellow Stern personalities Sal the Stockbroker, Richard Christy, Shuli, and Yucko the Clown. He often ends the show by eating whipped cream or blue cheese out of a girl's ass (although he claims he no longer does this).
Levy is frequently the object of verbal abuse by members of the Howard Stern Show for his poor spelling and fractured grammar. Levy appeared on the Howard Stern Show on February 7, 2007 where he was teamed with wack pack members Crackhead Bob and Miss Howard Stern in a trivia show against three adult film stars.[1] He was asked to spell the word "prophet" which he could not do, misspelling it three times. The first time Levy spelled it "phofet," the second time "phoet," and the third time he spelled it "porfit." He misspelled it the third time despite having already heard it spelled correctly by Miss Howard Stern. He was later asked to spell "February" which he also could not do, misspelling it two times. The first time he spelled it "Febaurary" and the second time he spelled it "Febaury."[1] Bob also can't pronounce "shrimp" or "chocolate" correctly.
Carlos Mencia was accused of stealing one of his jokes about "licking an asshole is like licking the end of a battery" during a recent on-stage confrontation by Joe Rogan. Mencia said he's never seen Levy live.
Levy has also accused comedians Dave Chappelle and Richard Belzer of stealing jokes from him (those jokes being "I'm going to beat my dick like it owes me money" and "the only way he'd have a funny bone in his body would be if I fucked him in the ass" respectively). Many of his fellow comedians remain skeptical of these accusations and his colleague Artie Lange has teased him about it on numerous occasions.
Vivid Video recently produced a porn movie titled Stood Up, a fictional account about his life, starring Savanna Samson, in which he appears but doesn't engage in any on-screen sexual acts. Levy co-wrote the movie with Genesis Magazine editor Dan Davis and the director of the movie, B. Skow. The DVD made its debut on the Adult Video News charts at number 25 the week of August 20, 2007, and was the highest charting feature movie debut of the week. After the movie was released, the New York Post's Page Six gossip column released an item about Levy and Savanna Samson reportedly dating. In October 2007, Levy began writing a weekly Op/Ed column for the blog at HotMovies.com.
Prior to his career as a comedian, he has worked as a landscaper, a painter and a wrestler at the semi-professional level under the name "Heartbreaker Bobby Slayer." During Levy's early days in comedy, it was former Stern writer Jackie Martling who awarded Levy the title "Reverend". Levy explained in an article why: "Because I was a filthy fuckin' pig, and he wanted to call me the opposite of what I was doing onstage.”[2]
Levy can be heard daily on the Kidd Chris morning show on WYSP in Philadelphia as an on-air guest and head writer since the show moved to mornings. Levy also opened a weekend comedy club in Levittown, Pennsylvania.
Levy is currently engaged to marry his girlfriend "and spellchecker", Christie, to whom he proposed on the opening night of his comedy club. [3]
