Bobby Beale ( Hobbs) is a fictional character in the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. He is the son of Ian and Laura Beale. Kevin Curran played Bobby from 2003 to 2007, but was replaced by Alex Francis on 7 May 2007. Francis was not credited in the role until 10 March 2008.

[edit] Biography

Laura supposedly had a drunken fling whilst married to Ian Beale (she stated that she only remembered zipping up Garry's trousers) with Garry Hobbs. Ian had already had a secret vasectomy so he presumed the child wasn't his, and he booted Laura out on Christmas Day, when she was in the early stages of pregnancy.

Garry and Laura made a go of things after Bobby's birth, despite the fact that Laura had discovered that Ian was the father after all (he had sex with Laura within six weeks of having the vasectomy, thus the procedure not in full working mode), but she kept this information to herself.

She and Garry split up when he returned to his wife, Lynne, who was now pregnant with their baby. In 2004, Laura fell down the stairs of her house and died. Pat Evans set up her arch enemy Janine for Laura's death, seeking revenge for Barry's murder.

Pat found Bobby's birth certificate, stating that Ian is the father of Bobby. Ian moved Bobby in with him, leaving Garry heart-broken, since his and Lynne's baby, Vivian, died shortly after birth.

Bobby now lives with Ian and his wife Jane Beale, and his older half brother and half sister Peter Beale and Lucy Beale, from Ian's first marriage to Cindy Beale.

Bobby loves his stepmother, Jane, very much as when she was in hospital, Bobby and Peter spent the night at Pat's house and through the night he cried for Jane. He seems to class Jane as his real mother (as was shown when he presented her with a card on her birthday addressing her as "Mum") and has taken warmly to Christian.
