To explore the worlds of both video piracy and self-publishing, director Gregorio Smith creates a bootleg or pirated DVD of his own movie Staten Island Catapult and hires an actress to sell it on the streets of New York City. The title of the movie is a reference to Abbie Hoffman's Steal This Book.
