Dr.Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry was established in 1985 and named after Yashwant Singh Parmar the architect of Himachal Pradesh and visionary of Horticulture and Forestry University for the state of Himachal Pradesh. The University has grown into its own kind not only in the country but in whole of Asia with new dimensions of education, research and extension in Horticulture and Forestry. It is playing an important role in increasing horticulture production in the stat of Himachal Pradesh in particular and in the country in general.

This university aims to provide teaching facilities in horticulture, forestry and allied sciences under mountain perspective of Himachal Pradesh. It also also follows course credit system of students education under bifurcation of annual academic session into two semesters. The entire teaching spectrum is broadly divided into a number of courses offered by departments under colleges of horticulture and forestry.
