The Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album has been awarded since 2003. This category was created and included for the 2003 Grammy Awards to nominate and award R&B albums with more of a modern Hip-Hop influence and contemporary musical sylings to them. Before this award, all contemporary R&B albums were ranked among the still continuing Grammy Award, Best R&B Album. Years reflect the year in which the Grammy Awards were presented, for music released in the previous year.
